Sol Barbie & Krystal .....

Last night Sol beer threw a 'summer' barbie in Pod.
The always funny and stunning Naomi Lynch was home from the UK to see her new niece so it was a perfect reason to get together. Thankfully the rain stayed off long enough to enjoy some Sol outside while Mo Kelly & Belle & Sebastian provided the tunes but sadly we didn't get to hear Belle & Sebastian as hotspot Krystal was calling.

An impressive total of 60 artists have been commissioned by BT2 and Art to Order to create works, which will be showcased at BT2, Grafton Street from Wednesday 18th to Monday 30th of July. Artists include Lili Forberg, Mo Kelly, Ross Stewart and many more. The artworks are varied in style and medium, with participating artists using widely mixed medium including textiles, photography, and glass and ceramic. However theme, size and price are fixed. Appropriately each piece is based around the subject or notion of ‘Home’, measuring 400 mm x 400 mm and costing only €350.

A PINT OF THE BLACKSTUFF

After 8 years being closed The Baggot Inn reopened it’s this doors with not only a new look but the excellent idea of self service taps.

A first for anywhere in world Diageo have introduced taps at each of their tables where parties of up to 8 can pour their own Guinness or Carlsberg.
Having drank in enough bars over the years the Bscene crew jumped at the chance to pull the perfect pint of the black stuff. With an excellent food menu rolling out next week this is one spot we shall be returning to.

A new week ......

Saturday saw kevin J Ryan introduce the brilliant movie ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ as part of the summer screenings in association with Jameson.

Tonight sees the return of ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ on Living TV @ 9
www.livingtv.co.uk
It may not have the big shoots like the US one, or Tyra Banks but still not bad for a Monday evening. There are rumours of an Irish version happening soon…. GOD HELP US... we can just see it now, the cream of the Irish fashion 'talent' selecting a winner from a group of 8 Irish beauties who all live in the model penthouse down at a 'secret location' in the heart of the docklands with the winner going on to have a wonderful career doing photocalls.....

Sadly the Bscene crew will have to catch it on a rerun or one of Living's next top model catch up Sunday'a as they are hitting ‘The Sugar Club’ for Duracell Ultra M3 collaborations with ITUNES.
Food, drinks, tunes from DJ Mo Kelly & live band Kidic will be on hand. If only all the weeks started of that good.

Social Thursday

Bscene where busy on the social circuit last night with the launch of Pop Art Ireland http://www.popartireland.com/
Art lovers, social heads and friends gathered in the wonderfully restored ‘Shelbourne Hotel’ where a selection of Steve Kaufman’s work was on display.
This was a taster of a much larger exhibition that will take place in October when the gallery opens just off Trinity College.

The party people then moved down to the ‘revamped’ Cocoon. Bscene joined their wonderful models that had been shooting in the venue earlier that day for an upcoming editorial so keep an eye here for it. The evening brought out many a familiar face from the social scene but the question on our minds was where was everyone fitting????

The current cast of Fame

As watchers of this diary know the bscene crew attended Tuesday’s opening night of ‘Fame The Musical’ currently running at the INEC, Killarney, Kerry. Now we are big lovers of Killarney here in the agency and love working down there so it was fun to be there in a social capacity.

We flew down with Aer Arran www.aerarann.com who we love, with the service on airlines getting worse with every flight we take it was nice to be greeted with professional , friendly staff that made the short trip so fun. Joining us on the flight was former contestant of last years BBC show ‘ How do you solve …’ Abi Finlay who had her ‘Ireland AM’ stint that morning to promote the show.

We checked into the stunning ‘Brehon Hotel’ www.thebrehon.com and have not stopped talking about it since. This wonderful hotel has everything anyone could wish for, stunning views, luxurious rooms, excellent staff and a spa that can only be described as heaven. Following our mouth watering meal in The Brehon Restaurant we headed over to the show.
For those who don’t know the story ‘Fame’ stop reading our blog right now !!! There’s the movie and the TV show and the musical fits kind of in the middle. Although the staging on this show had to be adapted due to the size of the stage in the INEC ( no yellow taxis on stage ) it’s still a good night out.

Happy B'day Kev , take 2
